A critical review of the top dental websites in New York City
In this article, we review the best dental websites in New York City. In order to select what we think are the top three best dental clinic websites in NYC, we use a few criteria that are considered reliable to separate the winners from the losers in a given industry sector. The criteria include: ranking on Google for relevant keywords, Google reviews, and overall design quality.
Once we have narrowed down the list, we do a critical review of the design and functionality features of the best websites. These reviews are our opinions of the websites. We aren’t biased towards any of the websites as, at the time of writing, we aren’t in any way affiliated with the companies that have designed the websites, nor with the website owners.

Best dentistry websites by overall design quality
209 NYC Dental
The website of 209 NYC Dental is sporting a very nice simplistic analog blue/green color scheme design with the blue color as the accent color. We don’t find any use of irrelevant colors. Overall the web designers have made a very good use of the color scheme. The call to action is in white which is the current trend and it is creating a great contrast with the features hero image on the home page, as shown in the snapshot.
As far as the images are concerned, the design uses a fully stretched front page image, which is the current trend at the time of writing.
Pearl Dental NYC
The website of Pearl Dental NYC is based on a mono color scheme with sky blue as the base color. The designers have applied red color on at least one occasion that doesn’t fit the website color scheme. We also notice the presence of unnecessary irrelevant colors on several occasions, such as the affiliation sections as shown below.
As far as the images are concerned, we notice a lot of low quality images, including the affiliation section and the social media section images.
Lastly, the call to action (CTA) is not obvious – it is buried somewhere below the fold and it is definitely not popping out. This is a major design flaw in our opinion.
Overall, we find the design of Pearl Dental NYC to be somewhat unprofessional and lacking on all three fronts: use of colors, image quality, and CTA.
SmilesNY
From the first look, SmilesNY’s website strikes us as a website build with the wrong template for the purpose. The template used to build the website has a relatively busy look – more appropriate for an e-commerce website than a local company type of website. The front page is cluttered above the fold and there isn’t a clear CTA.
The color scheme is a simple greyscale scheme with green as the punch color. We find use of unnecessary irrelevant colors in the footer as shown below. There are two different yellow colors for the star ratings that aren’t part of the color scheme along with multiple other irrelevant colors.
The footer also looks cluttered and hard to follow. Overall we find the design to be rather unprofessional and missing the point on most design criteria, including the use of color scheme, the use of a proper template, and the use of CTA.
Functionality features
In terms of functionality features, all three websites use basic forms for the booking of appointments, meaning that an administrative assistant has to handle the requests manually.
The website of SmilesNY is the only one where an automated fetching system is employed to fetch reviews from Google and other sources.
We found the use of videos in the front pages of the websites of 209 NYC Dental and SmilesNY, but not on Pearl Dental NYC’s website.
We found the blog of SmilesNY to be lacking in terms of design development. All the articles are posted on the same page and hard to get through as opposed to the other two websites.
Final notes
In terms of Google ranking, overall design quality, and Google Reviews, 209 NYC Dental’s website stands out as the clear winner. In terms of features, the SmilesNY is the only one to have an automated review fetching widget, but it is sub-standard blog which negates any advantage in terms of features won by the review fetching feature. Overall, it is safe to say that 209 NYC Dental’s website is the top dentistry website in NYC.
